The release of EndeavourOS 22.9 is now available, succeeding the Antergos distribution, which was discontinued in May 2019 due to a lack of free time among the remaining maintainers to support the project at a proper level. The installation image size is 1.9 GB (x86_64, a separate build for ARM is being developed). This new release includes updated package versions, including Linux kernel 5.19.7, Calamares installer 3.2.61, Firefox 104.0.2, Mesa 22.1.7, Xorg-Server 21.1.4, nvidia-dkms 515.65.01, and GRUB 2.06.
Endeavour OS allows the user to install Arch Linux with the necessary desktop environment simply and without complications, in the way it is intended in its standard setup provided by the developers of the chosen desktop, without additional pre-installed programs. The distribution offers a straightforward installer for setting up the basic Arch Linux environment with Xfce desktop by default and the option to install one of the typical desktop environments based on Mate, LXQt, Cinnamon, KDE Plasma, GNOME, Budgie, as well as tiling window managers i3, BSPWM, and Sway from the repository. There is ongoing work to add support for the Qtile and Openbox window managers, as well as the UKUI, LXDE, and Deepin desktop environments. One of the project's developers is working on a custom window manager called Worm.
