The release of the Floorp 10.5.0 web browser has been announced, developed by a group of Japanese students, combining the Firefox engine with capabilities and an interface styled like Chrome. Notable features of the project also include a focus on user privacy and the ability to customize the interface to personal preferences. The project code is distributed under the MPL 2.0 license. Builds are available for Windows, Linux, and macOS.
In the new release:
- An experimental side panel (Browser Manager) has been added, allowing management of music, video, searches, bookmarks, downloads, and browsing history in one place, as well as displaying a list of open sites in a tree view organized by theme.
- Experimental support has been added for simultaneously enabling two themes — a base and an auxiliary one (colors not defined in the base theme will be taken from the auxiliary theme).
- The engine has been synchronized with Firefox ESR 102.3.0.
- A profile update feature has been added to the about:support page, which can be used to optimize performance in case of profile bloat.
- Integration with notification output systems provided by supported operating systems has been ensured.
