Testing has started for the first alpha version of the installer for the upcoming significant release of Debian – 'Bookworm'. The release is expected in summer 2023.
Key Changes:
- The apt-setup now ensures the installation of certificate authority certificates to validate HTTPS package downloads.
- Busybox includes the applications awk, base64, less, and stty.
- Cdrom-detect now supports identifying installation images on regular disks.
- Choose-mirror has added the ability to fetch the list of mirrors from the mirror-master.debian.org host.
- The Linux kernel has been updated to release 5.19.
- The boot menu has been unified for UEFI (grub) and BIOS (syslinux).
- Support for converting Debian 11 installations with a separate /usr partition into a new representation, where the /bin, /sbin, and /lib* directories are symlinks to their corresponding directories inside /usr, has been implemented.
- Improved detection of multipath devices.
- The nvme-cli-udeb package has been added.
- Detection of Windows 11 and Exherbo Linux has been implemented.
- Experimental support for dmraid has been discontinued.
- Support has been added for the Bananapi_M2_Ultra, ODROID-C4, ODROID-HC4, ODROID-N2, ODROID-N2Plus, Librem5r4, SiFive HiFive Unmatched A00, BeagleV Starlight, Microchip PolarFire-SoC Icicle Kit, and MNT Reform 2 boards.
