The release of the Linux distribution Clonezilla Live 3.0.2 has been presented, designed for quick disk cloning (only the used blocks are copied). The tasks performed by the distribution are similar to those of the proprietary product Norton Ghost. The size of the distribution's ISO image is 363 MB (i686, amd64).
The distribution is based on Debian GNU/Linux and utilizes code from projects such as DRBL, Partition Image, ntfsclone, partclone, and udpcast. Booting from CD/DVD, USB Flash, and over the network (PXE) is possible. LVM2 and file systems ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs, reiser4, xfs, jfs, btrfs, f2fs, nilfs2, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, HFS+, UFS, minix, VMFS3, and VMFS5 (VMware ESX) are supported. A mass cloning mode over the network is available, including traffic transmission in multicast mode, allowing simultaneous cloning of the source disk to a large number of client machines. Cloning from one disk to another, as well as creating backups via saving a disk image to a file, is possible. Cloning can occur at the level of entire disks or individual partitions.
In the new version:
- Synchronization with the Debian Sid package base has been completed as of November 3.
- The Linux kernel has been updated to version 6.0.6.
- In ocs-onthefly, among the recovery actions in beginner mode, a prompt for the options '-k0' and '-k1' has been provided.
- The live build includes a utility for configuring the ufw firewall.
- The service for the glances monitoring system is disabled by default.
- An option '-sfs' for cloning only metadata has been added to the menu.
