The Wa-tunnel toolkit has been released, allowing TCP traffic to be tunneled through another host using a tunnel that operates over the WhatsApp messenger. Such maneuvers can be useful when there's a need to access external networks from environments where only the messenger is available, or to save bandwidth when connecting to networks or providers that offer unlimited options for messenger traffic (for example, unlimited access to WhatsApp is provided on board some airlines' aircraft). The code is written in JavaScript using Node.js and is distributed under the MIT license. The Baileys library is used for interacting with the WhatsApp API.
To set up the tunnel, two WhatsApp accounts are required – one is used on the client side, and the other on the server. Tunneling is possible for server both individual local ports and the organization of proxy operation. Connection with the WhatsApp account is established by scanning a QR code with the WhatsApp mobile application.
