After two and a half years since the release of the previous version, the BackBox Linux 8 distribution based on Ubuntu 22.04 is available. It comes with a suite of tools for security system checks, exploit testing, reverse engineering, network traffic analysis and wireless networks, malware investigation, stress testing, and hidden or lost data recovery. The user environment is based on Xfce. The size of the ISO image is 3.9 GB (x86_64).
In the new version, system components have been upgraded from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04. The Linux kernel has been updated to version 5.15. The versions of the security testing tools and desktop environment components have been updated. The ISO image is built in a hybrid format and adapted for booting on UEFI systems.
