Release of Multimedia Library SDL 2.26.0

The SDL 2.26.0 (Simple DirectMedia Layer) library has been released, aimed at simplifying the development of games and multimedia applications. The SDL library provides tools for hardware-accelerated output of 2D and 3D graphics, input handling, sound playback, 3D output via OpenGL/OpenGL ES/Vulkan, and many other auxiliary operations. The library is written in C and distributed under the Zlib license. Necessary bindings are provided for using SDL features in projects across various programming languages.

In the new release:

  • The OpenGL header files have been updated to comply with the latest specifications from the Khronos consortium.
  • Added the SDL_GetWindowSizeInPixels() function to obtain the pixel size of a window, which may differ from the logical size on high-DPI screens due to scaling.
  • Simulation of vertical synchronization (vsync) has been added to the software rendering code.
  • Mouse position is now transmitted in SDL_MouseWheelEvent.
  • Added the SDL_ResetHints() function to reset all hints to their default values.
  • Introduced SDL_GetJoystickGUIDInfo() function to retrieve joystick information encoded in GUID.
  • Support for PS3 and Nintendo Wii controllers has been added to the HIDAPI driver.
  • New hints have been added: SDL_HINT_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI_PS3, SDL_HINT_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI_WII, SDL_HINT_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI_XBOX_360, SDL_HINT_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI_XBOX_360_PLAYER_LED, SDL_HINT_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI_XBOX_ONE, HINT_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI_XBOX_ONE_HOME_LED, SDL_HINT_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI_WII_PLAYER_LED, SDL_HINT_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI_VERTICAL_JOY_CONS, and SDL_HINT_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI_XBOX_360_WIRELESS to manage Xbox 360 and PS3 controllers via the HIDAPI driver.
  • Provided the ability for independent access to left and right gyroscopes in combined Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers.
  • Support for microsecond intervals has been added in SDL_SensorEvent, SDL_ControllerSensorEvent, SDL_SensorGetDataWithTimestamp(), and SDL_GameControllerGetSensorDataWithTimestamp().
  • The SDL_GetRevision() function has been enhanced to provide additional build information, such as the git commit hash.
  • For Linux, the SDL_SetPrimarySelectionText(), SDL_GetPrimarySelectionText(), and SDL_HasPrimarySelectionText() functions have been implemented for interaction with the primary clipboard.
  • Added the SDL_HINT_VIDEO_WAYLAND_EMULATE_MOUSE_WARP hint to control mouse cursor emulation in Wayland-based environments.
  • Input from the software keyboard IME (Input Method Editor) has been included for Android builds.
