Mozilla has announced the acquisition of the startup Pulse, which is developing a product based on machine learning technologies for automatically updating statuses in the corporate messenger Slack, based on user activity in various systems and according to user-defined rules (for example, it is possible to set up status updates depending on events in the calendar or participation in a Zoom conference). The deal amount was not disclosed.
Mozilla's interest in Pulse is linked to expanding the use of machine learning technologies to create more personalized products that take into account the preferences, behaviors, and actions of users online. For instance, there is mention of the possibility of creating machine learning models developed in the interests of internet users, with a focus on ensuring transparency, maintaining privacy, and an initial emphasis on equality and inclusivity.
