Google has announced a significant reduction in its workforce, leading to the layoffs of around 12,000 employees, which constitutes approximately 6% of its total staff. Among other things, reports indicate that about 400 workers involved in the Fuchsia project will be laid off, which corresponds to roughly 16% of the total number of employees engaged in this OS.
Additionally, there are significant cuts to the team at Area 120, which develops new products and services as well as promotes experimental projects for the company (only three main projects will remain in the Area 120 division, while the rest will be discontinued). Details on how the layoffs will impact other Google projects and divisions are currently unavailable.
