The release of the Tangram 2.0 web browser has been published, built on GNOME technologies and specializing in organizing access to frequently used web applications. The browser's code is written in JavaScript and is distributed under the GPLv3 license. The browser engine utilizes the WebKitGTK component, also used in the Epiphany (GNOME Web) browser. The packaged versions are formatted as flatpak.
The browser interface features a sidebar where tabs for frequently used web applications and web services can be pinned. Web applications load immediately upon startup and remain active, allowing multiple messengers with web interfaces (WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, SteamChat, etc.) to stay open within a single application without the need for separate installations. Additionally, it allows always-accessible pages of various social networks and discussion forums (Instagram, Mastodon, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, YouTube, etc.).
Each pinned tab is completely isolated from the others and operates in a separate sandbox environment, without overlapping at the level of browser storage and cookies. This isolation allows opening several identical web applications tied to different accounts; for example, you can have multiple Gmail tabs, with the first linked to a personal account and the second to a work account.
