The release of the specialized Tails 5.10 distribution (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been formed, based on the Debian package base and intended for anonymous internet access. Anonymous access in Tails is ensured by the Tor system. All connections, except for traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by the packet filter by default. User data storage in persistent mode between launches uses encryption. An iso image capable of running in Live mode has been prepared, with a size of 1.2 GB.
In the new version of Tails, the Tor Browser 12.0.3 has been updated, and a confirmation screen is displayed when launched without unlocking persistent storage. Documentation for working with Persistent Storage, used for storing user data between sessions (e.g., files, Wi-Fi passwords, browser bookmarks, etc.), has been added. A vulnerability allowing the amnesia user to read the contents of any system file through symbolic link manipulation has been fixed.
The new version of Tor Browser 12.0.3 is synchronized with the Firefox 102.8 ESR code base, which has fixed 17 vulnerabilities. The versions of OpenSSL 1.1.1t and the NoScript 11.4.16 add-on have been updated (note that user settings for NoScript may be reset after the update). Disk activity has been reduced by disabling some unnecessary tasks and telemetry.
