The release of the experimental build of the Simply Linux 10.1 distribution (branch p10 Aronia) for the riscv64 architecture has been announced. The distribution is an easy-to-use system with a classic desktop based on Xfce, providing complete localization of the interface and most applications. The build is prepared on the basis of the Sisyphus riscv64 repository and tested in QEMU, on the VisionFive v1 board, and on SiFive boards. The developing distribution company "Bazalt SPo" is part of the international RISC-V community and is working on supporting VisionFive v2 and other RISC-V64 boards.
New features:
- Support for the single-board computer StarFive VisionFive V1.
- The distribution includes web browser Firefox 109.0.1, email client Thunderbird 102.7.1, and office suite LibreOffice 7.4.2.
- Xfce 4.18 desktop environment.
- The root certificate of the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia (ca-certificates-digital.gov.ru 1.0) has been added.
- The package includes the console process viewer utility htop 3.2.2.
- A mechanism to provide users with additional groups libnss-role 0.5.64 has been added.
- A graphical interface for working with scanners xsane 0.999 has been added.
- Improved support for Epson and HP printers.
