The release of the DNF package manager 4.15 is now available, which is used by default in Fedora Linux and RHEL distributions. DNF is a fork of Yum 3.4, adapted to work with Python 3, and uses the hawkey library as a backend for dependency resolution. Compared to Yum, DNF offers significantly higher speed, lower memory consumption, and better dependency management.
In the new version:
- The dnf-automatic utility (which allows for automatic execution of 'dnf upgrade' actions, such as when called from cron) has added a 'reboot' parameter to define behavior when a reboot is necessary (it can take values never, when-changed, and when-needed).
- Support for canceling the rollback operation during group updates has been added.
- The ability to pass CLI interface options when loading an external configuration file has been provided (for example, to set parameters such as sslverify, username, and password when accessing your own repository).
