The results of the annual Debian project leader elections have been announced. Jonathan Carter has won, having been re-elected for a fourth term. A total of 274 developers participated in the voting, which is 28% of all eligible voters, the lowest turnout in the project's history (last year it was 34%, the year before 44%, and the historical maximum was 62%). This year's elections were notable for having only one candidate, which reduced the voting to a choice between 'for' and 'against' (259 voted for, 15 against).
Jonathan Carter has been maintaining over 60 packages in Debian since 2016, contributing to the improvement of Live images in the debian-live team, and is one of the developers of AIMS Desktop, a Debian distribution used in several South African scientific and educational institutions.
