The developers of the Arch Linux distribution have alerted users about the migration of the package development infrastructure from Subversion to Git and GitLab, taking place from May 19 to 21. During the migration days, updates to packages in the repositories will be suspended, and access to primary mirrors will be restricted via rsync and HTTP. After the migration, access to the SVN repositories will be closed, and the svn2git mirror will stop updating.
Additionally, during this period, a restructuring of the repositories will take place: the 'testing' repository will be split into separate 'core-testing' and 'extra-testing' repositories, while the 'staging' repository will be divided into 'core-staging' and 'extra-staging'. The contents of the 'community' repository will be moved to the 'extra' repository. After restructuring, the 'testing', 'staging', and 'community' repositories will be left empty. To continue normal package updates, users of the transformed repositories will need to adjust their settings in pacman.conf, for example, substituting references to '[testing]' with '[core-testing]' and '[extra-testing].'
