A new release of the Gyroflow video stabilization system is available. It works in post-processing and utilizes data from the gyroscope and accelerometer to compensate for distortions caused by camera shake and uneven movement. The project code is written in Rust (the interface uses the Qt library) and is distributed under the GPLv3 license. Builds are published for Linux (AppImage), Windows, and macOS.
It supports using logs with data from the camera's built-in gyroscope or accelerometer (found in cameras like GoPro, Insta360, Runcam, DJI Action, Hawkeye, Blackmagic, and Sony series α, FX, RX, and ZV) as well as syncing with data separately obtained from external devices (such as data from drones with cameras based on Betaflight and ArduPilot, or logs collected through mobile applications for Android/iOS). An impressive list of formats for sensor data, lens profiles, and imported/exported videos is supported.
The program offers several algorithms for correcting distortion, temporal parallax, and horizon tilt, as well as smoothing jerks from uneven camera movement. Corrections are made through an intuitive graphical interface that provides full-resolution previews, fine-tuning of various parameters, and automatic lens calibration. A command-line interface, a correction engine library, an OpenFX plugin for DaVinci Resolve, and an effect for Final Cut Pro are also available. GPU capabilities are leveraged to speed up video processing and output.
