Linux Mint Edge 21.2 has been released with a new Linux kernel.

The developers of the Linux Mint distribution have announced the release of a new 'Edge' ISO image, based on the July release of Linux Mint 21.2 with the Cinnamon desktop, and featuring the Linux kernel 6.2 instead of 5.15. Additionally, support for UEFI SecureBoot mode has been restored in the provided ISO image.

This build is aimed at users of new hardware that face issues with the installation and booting of Linux Mint 21.2 when using the Linux kernel 5.15, which was released in the fall of 2021 and serves as the base kernel in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. The package with kernel 6.2 has been backported into Linux Mint 21.2 from the Ubuntu 22.04.3 distribution.
