The interface developers for Wine "Bottles" have announced a new project. As part of Bottles Next, there will be significant reworking, while Bottles will receive bug fixes and some additional features.
Key Changes:
Bottles Next will be available not only for Linux, but also for MacOS.
The GUI for MacOS will utilize Electron and VueJS 3, while for Linux it will use GTK4 and libadwaita.
Two interface modes: Next and Classic — for newcomers and "professionals" respectively.
Adding parental controls.
Adapting the Bottles Next interface for SteamDeck.
Transitioning the Bottles Next codebase from Python to Go.
Adding cloud features.
Server-Client-Agent architecture.
The release date of the project is unknown.
