A corrective release of Firefox 118.0.2 is available, which includes the following fixes:
- Issues with loading games from the site betsoft.com have been resolved.
- Problems with printing some SVG images have been addressed.
- A regression issue in branch 118 has been fixed, which caused the processing of 'WWW-Authenticate: Negotiate' responses from other sites to fail.
- An error has been corrected that caused H.264 video decoding in WebRTC not to work in some contexts.
- Issues preventing the use of the Firefox Translations feature on some pages have been resolved.
- Three crashes have been fixed (two errors occur on startup, and one when pressing the 'back' or 'forward' buttons).
Among other recent changes in Firefox:
- In the Firefox 119 branch, a bug has been fixed that caused tooltips to remain in the foreground when switching to another application with Alt+Tab. This issue is notable for remaining unresolved for 23 years. The fix required a 5-line patch checking for focus activity on the tooltip redraw code, complementing a check for mouse cursor positioning in a specified area. Interestingly, the first version of the patch caused a regression, whereby tooltips stopped appearing in the bookmarks sidebar if the sidebar was not in focus.
- Support for Encrypted Client Hello is enabled by default.
- On Linux and Windows platforms, a feature has been implemented to snap 'picture-in-picture' video windows to screen corners (auto-align to corners) when holding the Ctrl key while moving.
- In the developer tools, the debugger has been significantly sped up (by up to 70%) when handling a large amount of source text.
- The debugger has been refactored for correct functioning of breakpoints associated with the 'unload' event.
- Integration of a new portable component for displaying contextual hints in the address bar, rewritten in Rust, has begun.
- Support for importing data from other browsers has been implemented in the Firefox builds provided in Ubuntu in Snap format.
