An experimental release of the open implementation of WinAPI — Wine 8.18 has taken place. Since the release of version 8.17, 44 bug reports have been closed and 260 changes have been made.
The most significant changes:
- Development of window management tools in the winewayland.drv driver has continued, enabling the use of Wine in environments based on the Wayland protocol without the need for XWayland and X11 components.
- FluidSynth has been integrated as a library for use in the DirectMusic API.
- Support for additional effects has been implemented in Direct3D 10.
- Bug reports related to the functioning of applications have been closed: Motorola Ready For Assistant, Vitis 2020.1, Finale 27, Wordpad, Microsoft Paint.
- Bug reports related to the functioning of games have been closed: Patrician 4, Unreal Tournament 2004, Battle Bugs, Shadow of Memories, Inner Chains, Feeding Frenzy 2, Sniper Elite 5.
