The Fedora project celebrates 20 years since the first release of the project, published on November 6, 2003. The project was formed after Red Hat divided the Red Hat Linux distribution into two projects — the community-driven Fedora Linux and the commercial Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Fedora Linux focused on intensive development of new Linux technologies, early promotion of innovations, and the use of a short development cycle to quickly deliver significant new releases to users.
