The LXQt team has announced the release of the lightweight desktop environment LXQt 1.4.0.
Key changes in this release:
- LXQt 1.4.0 is based on Qt 5.15, the latest LTS version of Qt5. According to the developers' plans, this will be the last version using Qt 5; the next release is expected to be on Qt 6.
- A new component for generating menus, lxqt-menu-data, has replaced lxmenu-data, a similar component from LXDE.
- In the file manager PCManFM-Qt, the state of the two-pane mode is now saved when restoring tabs. Password and anonymity settings in the mounting dialog are now remembered. The application icon has been redrawn in vector SVG format.
- The QTerminal terminal emulator has added an optional sound alert and implemented support for the Falcon color scheme.
- In the image viewer LXImage-Qt, initial support for color spaces has been implemented. The option to upload to hosting ImageShack has been removed (a paid subscription is now required for ImageShack).
- Old issues with the LXQt panel related to focus loss and window switching using the mouse wheel have been fixed.
- The arbitrary command launch plugin has added the option 'Command outputs an image'.
- LXQt Session now updates the DBus activation environment to resolve issues with certain applications (e.g., Telegram).
