The Document Foundation has announced the synchronization of the LibreOffice Viewer Android app with the latest LibreOffice codebase and its placement in the Google Play catalog.
LibreOffice Viewer is a lightweight version of LibreOffice for Android smartphones and tablets, designed for viewing open document formats (.odt, .ods, .odp) and Microsoft Office formats (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx).
LibreOffice Viewer also includes experimental editing features that can be enabled in the app's settings, but these are not considered ready for production use.
Previously, LibreOffice Viewer was available on Google Play, but it was removed in 2020 due to lack of support. Since then, over two hundred changes have been made to improve the app's usability and stability.
After being re-released in the Google Play Store, LibreOffice Viewer is once again available for users. A version of Android 5.0 and higher is required to use it.
