Cinelerra-gg – a multi-track video editor and compositor for Linux (a port for Free/NetBSD is also in development).
Key features include:
- independence from python/qt/gtk during operation (python3 is needed for building);
- relatively fast engine;
- ability to work with 32-bit floating-point channel data (however, currently there is a limitation for samples with values greater than 1.0f; the author may have corrected this, but more tests are needed, including comparisons with proprietary (DaVinci Resolve) and open-source (Olive editor) projects).
Key innovations:
- transition to ffmpeg 6.1;
- build farm from
einhander.
In the screenshot, Cinelerra is running on a virtual NetBSD 9.2 (at that time), i486, and the result is viewed from an Android tablet via a VNC client.
