The developers of the Arch Linux distribution have announced the completion of the migration of the bug tracking system to the GitLab platform and the inclusion of support for merge requests on the GitLab server maintaining the project. The modernization of the bug tracking system became the next step after transitioning the package development infrastructure from Subversion to Git and GitLab.
The old bug tracking interface, based on the Flyspray platform, will be disabled after some time, but access to old records is planned to be retained through the hosting of a static archive copy of the site bugs.archlinux.org, where records will remain accessible via old links. Final comments have been added to bug reports that were reviewed during the migration, indicating the new discussion address in GitLab. Problem notification buttons present on package pages have been redirected to the new system. The process of reviewing bug reports will remain the same — the initial review of reports is conducted by members of the Bug Wranglers team, after which the issue is redirected for resolution to the appropriate maintainer.
