A new version of the lightweight MX Linux distribution has been introduced, designed for Raspberry Pi boards. The build has been tested on Raspberry Pi 4, 400, and 5 boards. Installation requires 16 GB of free space on the memory card or booting from a USB drive. The size of the compressed system image is 2.2 GB.
The distribution combines components from Raspberry Pi OS and MX Linux, includes MX Tools, and provides access to MX Linux repositories. The user environment is based on Xfce. The MX Linux distribution uses the sysVinit initialization system and its own tools for system configuration and deployment. Unlike the MX Linux build for x86 systems, the Raspberry Pi edition defaults to the Chromium browser instead of Firefox, lacks a live mode, and launches a system configuration interface after the first boot.
