On January 10, Intel engineers released the quarterly update of the FFmpeg Cartwheel 2023Q4 multimedia library. The new release includes support for the Meteor Lake platform for the new laptops entering the market. This Meteor Lake support is compatible with all other Intel open-source graphic drivers included in the Linux 6.7 kernel (stable and enabled by default).
Intel engineers are also continuing to work on additional deep learning features and DNN for FFmpeg. Support for FFmpeg-DNN for OpenVINO Yolo v1/v2/v3/v4 has been added to their Cartwheel repository, together with support for the SSD model with two output tensors, support for models with dynamic output tensor shapes, and in the libtorch backend, multi-device support has been included for accelerated output.
FFmpeg Cartwheel 2023Q4 now also supports VA-API and QuickSync Video (QSV) for user-specified hardware usage on platforms with multiple GPUs, such as dGPU + iGPU configurations. The ICQ encoding mode is now supported for the server parts of VA-API and QSV.
