Quietly and almost unnoticed, on December 15, 2023 (almost a month ago!), the Shotcut development team released version 23.12.15.
This version is a small collection of fixes and updates, including:
- Fixed crashes when launching Wayland on Ubuntu 22.04 and 23.10 — installation of qt6-wayland may be required (the bug appeared in version 23.11). This causes a breakdown in Wayland support on Ubuntu 23.04, which is a less significant version than the other two. The combination of Wayland and Qt 6 proves impossible for universal usage in binary packages Portable/AppImage/Snap. If the Qt 6 Wayland package installation does not work on your distribution, you can log in using an X session instead of Wayland or try Flatpak.
- Numerous audio filters that were missing on macOS/Intel have been fixed (the bug appeared in version 23.11).
- Fixed crash in video filter "No Sync" (No Sync) with new keyframes Ease Back and Ease Elastic.
- Fixed loading of parametric equalizer presets (Equalizer: Parametric > Preset).
- Fixed slideshow generator (Slideshow Generator), which did not fill the edges of the video when the aspect ratio was not matched.
- Fixed a bug that prevented the waveform of the signal from updating when changing the audio track properties (Properties > Audio > Track).
- Fixed keywords #filename# and #basename# in Text:Simple-video filter with file names other than ASCII in Windows.
- Fixed bitrate display (Properties > View Bitrate) on HiDPI screens.
- Fixed accuracy for measuring video quality (Properties > Measure Video Quality) when using full color range (Color range > Full).
- Fixed some minor memory leaks.
- All nvenc-based hardware encoders now use CQ instead of constant QP to manage VBR speed.
- FFmpeg updated to version 6.1.
- AV1 decoder dav1d updated to version 1.3.0, and AV1 encoder libaom-av1 updated to version 3.8.0.
- Library for pitch correction rubberband updated to version 3.3.0.
