The experimental release of the open implementation of Win32 API — Wine 9.1 has been announced. Since the release of 9.0, 42 bug reports have been closed and 270 changes made. It is worth noting that starting from version 2.x, the Wine project has adopted a versioning scheme where each stable release results in an increase of the first digit in the version number (8.0.0, 9.0.0), while updates to stable releases are released with a change in the third digit (9.0.1, 9.0.2, 9.0.3). Experimental versions, which are developed in the process of preparing the next major release, are released with a change in the second digit (9.1, 9.2, 9.3).
The most significant changes:
- Improved support for input methods. The implementation of the SendInput() function has been enhanced, the XInputGetCapabilitiesEx function has been added, and the XInputGetCapabilities function has been completely rewritten.
- Improved support for the Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol (DH). Added the ability to configure and retrieve DH parameters. Handlers have been implemented to create pairs from public and private keys.
- The detection of Dvorak layout keyboards has been improved.
- Bug reports related to the performance of games have been closed: Polda 1, Lego Racers, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Forza Horizon 4.
