New releases of the guides Linux From Scratch 12.1 (LFS) and Beyond Linux From Scratch 12.1 (BLFS) are available in two versions, featuring SysVinit and systemd initialization systems. Linux From Scratch provides instructions for building a basic Linux system from the ground up, using only the source code of necessary software. Beyond Linux From Scratch supplements the LFS instructions with information on building and configuring over 1000 software packages, covering various applications from databases and server systems to graphical interfaces.
In Linux From Scratch 12.1, 43 packages have been updated, including Glibc 2.39, Linux kernel 6.7.4, Grub 2.12, Systemd 255, SysVinit 3.08, Coreutils 9.4, binutils 2.42, Openssl 3.2.1, Python 3.12, and others.
