Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud giant, has acquired a data center campus under construction near the Susquehanna nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania, USA, from Talen Energy Corporation. According to Datacenter Dynamics, Talen announced the sale of the campus to a "large cloud provider" just last week. It was revealed in an investor presentation that the buyer is AWS. The Cumulus Data campus, covering more than 485 acres, was first announced back in 2021—it's located in close proximity to Talen's 2.5 GW nuclear power plant. Construction began in 2021, and the first hyper-scale facility of 28,900 square meters and 48 MW was completed in 2023. Meanwhile, a separate mining farm was built for TeraWulf, but it seems not to be part of the deal with Amazon.
