In the upcoming LTS version of the Ubuntu 24.04 distribution, developers will remove standard GNOME games from the package set, such as Aisleriot solitaire, Mahjong, Mines, and Sudoku. This decision is explained by the fact that these games "no longer showcase what Ubuntu and the Linux community as a whole can offer to gamers."
Additionally, the removal of these games will help reduce the size of the distribution's ISO image by 65 MB. However, if necessary, they can be installed from the repositories or Snap.
Notably, a similar removal of games from the standard GNOME package occurred in 2010, at which time their number was reduced from 15 to 4.
