Rostelecom has announced its technical readiness to commence commercial operations of the second phase of the new Trans-Eurasian Fiber Optic Line (TEA NEXT), spanning 765 km and laid between St. Petersburg and Moscow. According to the press release, the high potential of the line has already allowed the company to utilize two fibers from the high-capacity line for its own needs at this stage. TEA NEXT will stretch from the western to the eastern borders of Russia, connecting major cities and providing access to the borders with Mongolia and China, as well as to the landing station in Nakhodka. The project utilizes components produced domestically. For the completed sections of the TEA NEXT line from Idritsa to Torzhok and from Moscow to St. Petersburg, the company offers rental of dark fibers and 100 Gbps channels with the possibility of placing customers' own active equipment along the fiber optic route.
