The alliance of leading IT companies, including Oracle, Apple, Nvidia, and MicroSoft, has released a text of a non-free license based on GPL v3. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the operational costs of major software producers, create a unified licensing space, and simplify the user agreement for end-users.
The first software licensed under the new terms is the source code of Berkley UNIX, previously owned by SCO Unix, which ended a years-long dispute regarding its ownership.
