Version 8.6 of the free digital audio workstation (DAW) Ardour has been released.
The release does not include any major changes, mainly because the developers are still busy working on future major releases.
The new version fixes a bug from version 8.4 that caused a crash when opening the file selection dialog on Linux under certain circumstances.
Brief change list:
- AAf support has been improved.
- Using —gdb on Linux is now easier due to automatic handling of SIG32.
- Hidden plugins are no longer displayed in the plugin list.
- The session file version is now used in backup file names.
- The General MIDI MIDNAM file now includes drum names.
- Grid lines are now displayed for triplets/quintuplets/septuplets.
- The behavior of moving individual checkpoints has been improved.
- The built-in synthesizer Reasonable Synth now supports pitch modulation.
- Pitch modulation support has been added to Reasonable Synth.
- Numerous bugs have been fixed.
- Corrections and changes have been made to GTK/YTK. Ardour no longer uses GTK modules.
- New APIs and bindings for Lua scripts have been added.
