Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform has shut down its Snowmobile service, which offered physical transportation of vast data sets via trucks, according to Datacenter Dynamics. Now, only Snowball and Snowcone offerings are available in the AWS Snow family. The Snowmobile service was launched in 2016, allowing clients to transfer their data to the AWS cloud using trucks instead of traditional network channels. This provided a significant time advantage when dealing with petabyte-scale datasets.
