Pale Moon browser 33.1.0 is now available

The release of the Pale Moon 33.1.0 web browser, forked from the Firefox codebase to ensure greater efficiency, maintain a classic interface, minimize memory usage, and provide additional customization options, has been published. Pale Moon builds are available for Windows and Linux (x86_64). The project code is distributed under the MPLv2 (Mozilla Public License).

The project adheres to a classic interface organization, without transitioning to the integrated Australis and Photon interfaces in Firefox 29 and 57, and provides extensive customization capabilities. Removed components include DRM, Social API, WebRTC, PDF viewer, Crash Reporter, code for collecting statistics, parental control tools, and accessibility features. Compared to Firefox, the browser reintroduces support for extensions using XUL and maintains the ability to apply both full and lightweight themes.

Key Changes:

• Support for the meta tag has been added, which allows for resource loading without waiting for them to be requested; for example, certain CSS files, scripts, videos, and images can be preloaded.
• The HTTP header CSP (Content Security Policy) has added support for the directives 'style-src-attr', 'style-src-elem', 'script-src-attr', and 'script-src-elem', which provide functionality for style and script directives but can be applied to individual elements and event handlers such as onclick.
• Partial support for the HTML
  tag has been enabled, allowing for the creation of dialog windows and components for interactive user engagement, such as dismissible alerts and nested windows.
• Support for Emoji specification 15.1 has been added.
• Support for the property window.webkitURL has been implemented.
• Abbreviated versions of CSS properties that control logical positioning of elements, such as 'margin-block', 'margin-inline', 'padding-block', and 'padding-inline', have been added. For example, values like 'margin-block-start', 'margin-block-end', 'margin-inline-start', and 'margin-inline-end' can now be defined using the shorthand properties 'margin-block' and 'margin-inline'.
• Extensions are allowed to define CPU capabilities (SSE2/AVX/AVX2) through the Navigator interface.
• The CSS engine Stylo, written in Rust, has been removed from the codebase.
