The AlmaLinux project, which develops a distribution based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and aims to take the place of classic CentOS, has announced the formation of the AlmaLinux Engineering Steering Committee (ALESCo), which will make decisions related to the technical aspects of development, similar to the work of the FESCo committee in Fedora Linux. Among other things, the committee will review proposals for project improvements submitted by community representatives. The goal of establishing the committee is to coordinate the technical development of the distribution to ensure the reliability, stability, and relevance of the project.
The committee consists of six engineers who are actively involved in the development and use of AlmaLinux:
- Andrey Lukoshko — architect of AlmaLinux.
- Ben Thomas — infrastructure elements developer from University College London.
- Cody Robertson — CTO of Hawk Host.
- Elkhan Mammadli — cloud technologies engineer from CloudLinux.
- Jonathan Wright — AlmaLinux evangelist from CloudLinux.
- Neal Gompa — principal consultant from Velocity Limitless.
