In a recently published post "Ubuntu Desktop’s 24.10 Dev Cycle — The Roadmap", Oliver Smith reported that developers plan to make Wayland the default graphics server for all users. Starting with Ubuntu 24.10, it will be available for NVIDIA graphics cards.
Developers also added that incorporating Wayland into interim releases will help them find and resolve issues that may arise during the transition to Wayland, which in turn will aid in releasing a stable version of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.
