The release of FreeRDP 3.6 has been published, offering a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), developed based on Microsoft specifications. The project provides a library for integrating RDP support into third-party applications and a client that can be used for remote connections to Windows desktops. The project's code is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.
In the new version:
- Significantly increased decoder speed when using various gfx codecs.
- Experimental support has been added for the RDP protocol extension 'MS-RDPECAM' (Remote Desktop Protocol: Video Capture Virtual Channel Extension), designed for transmitting video data from the RDP client to server RDP.
- An experimental implementation of a client has been proposed, translated to the SDL3 library.
- Improved image copying.
- Support for p11-kit and json-c has been added.
