The GNOME Foundation, overseeing the development of the GNOME desktop environment, has announced a change in its executive director, who is responsible for managing and developing the GNOME Foundation as an organization, as well as engaging with the board of directors, advisory board, and organization members.
Since October of last year, the executive director position has been held by Holly Million, who has attracted attention with her diverse interestsâranging from producing documentaries and writing films to founding a shamanic arts institute and practicing herbal medicine. The reason for her departure is cited as a desire to focus on obtaining a PhD in psychology and concentrating on the growth of her private practice.
Richard Littauer, a community activist from SustainOSS, one of the leaders of the CURIOSS organization, community engagement manager at the Open Source Collective, and participant in projects like Node.js and IPFS, has been appointed as the acting executive director of the GNOME Foundation. A plan to search for a permanent executive director is expected to be presented at the GUADEC conference, which will take place from July 19 to 24.
