Release of ProteWine 1.0, a tool for running Windows applications on Linux

The release of ProteWine 1.0 has been published, designed to simplify the launch of Windows applications in environments based on Linux, SteamDeck, and other portable consoles running Linux. ProteWine features a visual configurator that allows creating ports of Windows games to run on Linux using Wine and Proton packages. The tool is tied to the Steam client but only utilizes Steam Runtime 3 "Sniper" as the environment for running third-party Wine and Proton builds. • Winetricks integrated.
  • Six third-party repositories with ready-made Wine and Proton builds are available to choose from.
  • Automatic installation of DXVK, VKD3D, Proton, and mfc42 libraries (fix for the isskin error).
  • The ability to install games directly from image files in ISO and MDF formats.
  • Automatic detection of the installed game's shortcut.
  • Automatic detection of available posters and icons found by the game's name.
  • The option to create standalone shortcuts, both in the system and within Steam.
  • Tracking the time spent in-game.
  • Integration with the SteamDeck on-screen keyboard.
