🥇OpenMandriva ROME 24.07

OpenMandriva ROME 24.07 has been released, a new version of the distribution featuring a continuous update model.

Transition to KDE Plasma 6: Plasma 6 is now used by default.
Desktop Environment Options: Versions with LXQt 2.0.0 (Qt6) and GNOME 46.3.
Wayland Support: An ISO image with Plasma 6 Wayland is available; however, Wayland does not yet replace X11 by default for most users. In VirtualBox, Wayland may boot to a black screen, but works on most hardware configurations and in QEmu with KVM.
Proton and Proton-Experimental Support: These variants of Wine, typically used to run Windows games on Steam, are now available as OpenMandriva packages, allowing Proton to be used outside of Steam without installing proprietary code.
OM-Welcome: A new tool for system setup and configuration, combining the features of oma-welcome and om-control-center.
Updated Software: Includes the latest versions of desktop environments, the kernel, and applications such as:
- Plasma Desktop 6.1.3, KDE Applications 24.05.2, KDE Frameworks 6.4, Qt 6.7.2;
- Kernel 6.10, built using clang;
- LibreOffice 24.2.5 with integration for Qt 6 and Plasma 6;
- Browsers: Chromium 126.0.6478.182 and Firefox 128.0 with spy functions disabled;
- Falkon 24.05.2.
Security and Privacy: Rapid vulnerability fixes and disabling of spy functions in browsers.
AMD ROCm Support for graphics chips and a plugin for generating graphics using AI in Krita.

New Declarative Build feature for rpm: Provides implementations for most build systems, such as cmake, meson, autotools, and python (setuptools/pip).
Development Tools: LLVM/Clang 18.1.8, GCC 14.1.0, glibc 2.39, systemd 255.7, Mesa 24.1.4.

Builds for various aarch64 devices will be available soon. Developers are also working on a port for RISC-V, which is planned for the next release.
