Gemrb V0.9.3

Gemrb V0.9.3

After a year of work, GemRB version 0.9.3 has been released. GemRB is a portable implementation of the Infinity Engine by Bioware with open-source code. The Infinity Engine is the engine that powered the old games Baldur's Gate (1 and 2), Planescape: Torment, and many others.

Change log: GemRB v0.9.3 (2024-07-10):

New features:

  • full support for i18n (language), custom log entries;
  • approximation of fragments;
  • support for BMP v3 and v5;
  • a small set of tests, tracy support;
  • iwd2 identification options and speed data;
  • compatibility with nwn-for-bg2;

Improved features:

  • area music, creature and area sounds;
  • log highlighting, pathfinding, drawing;
  • iwd2 and pst world map;
  • migrated to c++14;
  • the build system has become more modular and customizable;
  • bug fixes.

It has been noted that there is now a change in how the game is launched. Previously, it was sufficient to run GemRB in the directory with the game. Now, you need to specify the path to the game directory, even if it is the current directory.

So previously it worked like this #!\/bin\/sh cd \/path\/Planescape Torment gemrb "$@"

And now only like this

#!/bin/sh cd /path/Planescape Torment gemrb "$@" .
