Qucs-S is a tool for simulating electronic circuits, using the open Ngspice engine for general-purpose circuits, or QucsatorRF for analyzing microwave devices. The latest release of the program was on July 23 this year.
Key innovations in version 24.3.0:
- The binary package builds for all platforms have been migrated to Qt6
- The procedure for importing third-party SPICE subcircuit models has been simplified, with a redesigned special component SPICE Library Device (see screenshot) and a dialog for specifying the UGO symbol and pin assignments have been added. UGO symbol templates have also been included. Previously, creating a subcircuit was necessary for this procedure.
- The import of SPICE models for discrete components has been simplified. Now you can import a model directly from the component properties dialog using the button Fill from SPICE model.
- The rendering engine for circuits and diagrams has been refactored to improve rendering on HiDPI monitors.
- Updated tools for synthesizing attenuators and passive filters
- New component libraries added: PWM controllers, mixer ICs, germanium diodes.
- The QucsatorRF engine has been updated to version 1.0.1, with changes primarily concerning the file format converter
