The Chinese company Radxa has already presented interesting developments in the field of single-board computers. For example, they introduced the Radxa Rock lineup based on the Rockchip processor, which stands out from the Raspberry Pi5 by featuring an M.2 slot for SSD installation.
The new Radxa X4 is a single-board computer in the same form factor as the Raspberry Pi5, with the same placement of ports, and is likely compatible with most Raspberry Pi5 accessories and cases, but is based on the Intel Alder Lake series processor.
The heart of the new model is the Intel N100:
- Four cores;
- frequency up to 3.4 GHz in turbo boost mode;
- 6 MB cache;
- TDP 6W.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics:
- OpenGL 4.6;
- OpenCL 3.0;
- 750 MHz.
Radxa has remained true to itself and equipped the board with an M.2 slot supporting NVMe, 4 PCIe 3.0 lanes, and 2230 standard modules. The Radxa X4 board is available in configurations with 4, 8, 12, and 16 GB of RAM, with soldered eMMC memory or without it.
Other specifications:
- 2 Micro HDMI ports supporting 4Kp60;
- 2.5 Gbit Ethernet with PoE support;
- WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2;
- or WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0;
- 1xUSB2.0 + 3xUSB3.0;
- 3.5 audio jack;
- GPIO port compatible with the corresponding Raspberry Pi 5 connector.
Official support for Debian and Ubuntu is announced. Power is supplied through USB Type-C with PD support (12V, 2A); a 30W power supply is recommended if you plan to connect additional load to the USB ports.
