A new installation image of the Arch Linux distribution has quietly and inconspicuously been released. It is noteworthy primarily for the updated installation script archinstall version 2.8.1, which adds experimental support for LVM.
Additionally, archinstall has refactored several key functions, including suggest_single_disk_layout(), format(), and umount(), to enhance the reliability of the installer. The installer has also received a translation into Finnish, various bug fixes, and improvements related to locale generation, partition and free space detection, and unmounting. The Hyrpland profile has also been updated, the hooks for mkinitcpio.conf have been updated to match upstream, and the default root size has been set to 50 GB instead of 20 GB.
In addition to the updated installer, the release boasts Linux kernel 6.10, which has long been available to existing users in the stable repository, along with updated versions of all packages.
