Oracle has released the Solaris 11.4 SRU 72 (Support Repository Update) version of its operating system, which includes a series of significant changes and enhancements for the Solaris 11.4 branch. To install the fixes provided in the update, simply run the command ‘pkg update’. Users can also take advantage of the free Solaris 11.4 CBE (Common Build Environment), developed using a continuous release model.
Among the changes in the new version:
- A system call getumask has been added. The pr_umask field has been included in /proc//psinfo.
- The LibYAML library has been included.
- Support for the mount option 'noresvport' has been implemented for NFS, and the protocol identifier is now reflected in audit logs.
- Support for the Suricata attack detection system has been added.
- A service for checking accounts (System Account Check Service — svc:/system/check/user) has been added.
- TLS support has been added for encrypting ICAP connections used for interacting with virus scanning services.
- The maximum addressable time counter in lastlog, utmpx, and wtmpx has been extended from the year 2038 to 2106.
- Support for asynchronous input/output is enabled by default in vHBA (virtual SCSI Host Bus Adapter).
