An experimental release of the open-source Win32 API implementation — Wine 9.16 has been published. Since the release of 9.15, 25 bug reports have been closed and 281 changes have been made.
The most significant changes:
- Initial support for a separately managed driver store (Driver Store) has been added.
- Support for pixel buffers (pBuffer) has been added to the driver for Wayland-based environments.
- The MSHTML engine continues to implement support for object prototypes.
- Two vulnerabilities (CVE-2018-12932, CVE-2018-12933) in the PlayEnhMetaFileRecord function implementation from the gdi32 library have been fixed, caused by buffer overflows.
- Bug reports related to the following applications have been closed: Corel Paint Shop Pro X7, Opera Neon, Cetus3D-Software UP Studio 2.4.x, Plantronics Hub 3.16, StaxRip 2.0.6.0, GMG-Vision, Lotus Approach, Harmony Assistant, Splashtop RMM client, StaxRip 2.0.6.0, ClickStamper.
- Bug reports related to the following games have been closed: Anarchy Online, Piggi 2, Vietcong.
Additionally, the Wine Staging 9.16 release has been formed, providing extended Wine builds that include unfinished or risky patches, which are not yet suitable for acceptance into the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging offers 355 additional patches. The new Wine Staging release has synchronized with the Wine 9.16 codebase and transferred fresh changes from vkd3d. A total of 17 patches have been transferred to the main Wine branch, of which 14 are related to odbc32, and one each for print dialog, setupapi, and winex11.drv. The patch sets vkd3d-latest, eventfd_synchronization, and ntdll-WRITECOPY have been updated.
