In his speech at the Open Source Summit China, Linus Torvalds mentioned that he expected a faster integration process for components written in Rust into the kernel. Part of the issue is that older developers are accustomed to C and do not see the need to learn a new language that differs significantly from C in some aspects. Such an attitude among developers leads to some resistance to adopting Rust. Another reason for the slow advancement of Rust in the kernel is that the Rust infrastructure itself has not been super stable.
